Fine Arts at Craig School

Art Enhances Every Dimension of Learning

At The Craig School, fine arts education is woven into the academic experience at every level.

Art requires complex thinking and problem-solving skills, the ability to represent ideas and feelings in a symbolic manner, and an understanding of associations between things that are otherwise not alike. Our program helps students visualize and create concepts three-dimensionally, using a multi-sensory process that taps into visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile experiences.

Building Confidence Through Artistic Discovery

The Lower and Middle School Art program is designed to foster self-expression, self-confidence, and lifelong curiosity by building skills, tool technique, and concepts through a wide variety of artistic media. Grade-level projects are enjoyed by the entire class, their parents, and our school community.

Students learn to use art as a means of communication and creative expression, and have ongoing opportunities to showcase their work around campus and in special art exhibitions.

Music
Lower & Middle School

Music is known for its ability to strengthen the auditory, visual/spatial, and motor cortices of the brain. At Craig School, music classes help students improve their concentration, focus, and attention, while also aiding in the development of speech, language, and reading skills — making it a natural complement to our academic support model.

Drama
Lower & Middle School

Drama enhances students' expressive and receptive language skills, providing a complementary element to speech and language related services. Through performance and storytelling, students build confidence and communication — skills that carry into every aspect of their academic and personal lives.
